Promoting Healthy Children & Families
A healthy community starts with healthy children and families who have access to quality medical and behavioral health care. As your legislator, Ben will advocate for all Montanans to maintain access to quality care and protect health privacy and reproductive rights for women. Ben will also be a leading advocate to protect Medicaid coverage from roll-backs that harm children and families.
The fact is, too many Montana children and families are in crisis. Montana has one of the highest rates of suicide in the country, our children experience childhood traumas more than any other state in America, and access to affordable quality health care is lacking for tens of thousands of Montanans.
Increasing incentives for behavioral health and medical providers to operate in under-served areas and expanding investments in early prevention programs that disrupt generational cycles of poverty and trauma will be some of Ben's top priorities in the state legislature.
He will also coordinate with the Department of Public Health and Human Services to enact thoughtful foster care reforms that help support stable families and reduce the disparities of Native American families impacted by the foster care system.
